The original carnival work and poster was unveiled in Galerie Wolfsen April 19. The strong and colorful motif will be an eternal reminder of the fantastic tradition that Aalborg Carnival is.

Tine Helleshøj captures the spirit and energy of the carnival in her very own and unique way. The two main figures are beautifully done with detailed patterns and contrasts of colour. The main figures show a female body shape and a male body shape, but both bodies and the faces can be anyone - any carnival participant. The figures carry symbols that symbolize the many different festive costumes worn by carnival participants. The female figure has big hair and wears a crown, a mask and a mermaid tail. The male figure also wears a crown and a mask, and he is wearing a large vine leaf.

The background scene shows cultural elements and symbols that represent the diversity of the carnival. There are musical notes symbolizing the loud and festive music of a carnival day, a rainbow symbolizing the diversity of the carnival participants, a bottle and a glass symbolizing the alcohol consumed on the festive day, a trident symbolizing mermaid costumes and/or devil costumes, green bushes that symbolize the carnival festivities in Kildeparken.

Tine Helleshøj states that she wanted to create a feeling of celebration, colours, freedom and cohesion with the carnival artwork . All in the spirit of Aalborg carnival - as well as a feeling we can take with us into everyday life, the feeling that we can be whatever or whoever we want to be. She wanted to create a harmonious and classic work, which can hopefully create joy where it hangs for many years to come - well beyond the carnival season.
