Jeanette Elmelund (b. 1965) works at the intersection of pop art, realism, and still-life painting. Her paintings are characterized by a distinctive personal style and often feature an unexpected detail that challenges the viewer's gaze.
She paints in oils on various materials, frequently using William Morris wallpapers as backgrounds. The wallpaper patterns lend the works a decorative, almost tactile quality that creates an intriguing contrast with the subjects depicted.
