Throughout the years we have seen Raymond Stuwe (among other artists) portray David Bowie several times and we have seen him use Bowie’s iconic lightning bolt in portraits of other powerful rock icons.
In a series of artwork by Stuwe Bowie is seen holding his finger up to his lips as if to shush the viewer. These artworks by Stuwe are based on photographer Gavin Evans’ series of photographs of the singer.
In 1995 photographer Evans did a series of photographs of Bowie (the photoshoot is now known as “The Session”). Evans’ aim was to create individual images that would connect visually as: ‘see no evil', ‘hear no evil’ and ‘speak no evil’ that became redacted to simply ‘shush’ and ‘oi’.
