It Snows on the Himalayan - Frank Hollywood

Frank Hollywood (born 1980) is a well-known artist in the Netherlands, and regularly appears in Dutch media, not least because his art is often controversial. He studied at the St. Joost Academy of Art and Design in Breda, and many elements from the world of design can be seen in his works. For example, his hyperrealistic painting series of famous Dutch women such as Shelly Sterk, Carolien Spoor and Elize Horst show an immediately absurd mix of portraiture and modern luxury items such as Hermès and Chanel bags or Louis Vuitton scarves. With these oil paintings, the artist offers a satirical view of the consumer society we are all a part of and he questions our use of all these branded goods when defining ourselves in public space.
